My Background
My path to mindfulness has been a wild one, beginning in Duluth at the University of Minnesota while completing a BA in Communication and Art. Movement and nature were key tools & teachers. I feel so lucky to have discovered how yoga and meditation connect, challenge and help us grow.
MEDITATION
I am a qualified MBSR teacher, Level 2. Grateful for teachers over the recent years, Eve Ekman and Matthew Brensilver. I have Jack Kornfield to thank for getting over my resistance to sitting (somewhat still) and his teacher Ajan Chah. I appreciate the lessons learned from Mushim Ikeda and teachers of East Bay Meditation Center. I am thankful for continued learning from the teachings and teachers of MBSR & Jon Kabat-Zinn.
YOGA
I have been honored to recieve certifications in the Piedmont advanced studies program & Yoga for Healthy Aging, Trauma Informed Yoga & Yoga Therapeutics. The root nourishment from the family of teachers of Piedmont Yoga & youth yoga dharma continues. Thankful for the ongoing influence from Baxter Bell, Bessel van der Kolk Debbie Gilman, Rajashree Choudhury, Patricia Nolan and Katchie Ananda.
ACTIVISM
Appreciation continues to the students, survivors and staff of non profits whose teachings continue. A special thank you to these leaders in advocacy and social justice, Malia Everette at Altruvistas, Nola Brantley and Saraí T S-Mazariegos and all who have been connected with misssey.org . I have these women to thank for a path I am grateful for choosing.
