You may find an installer for GarageBand '11 on the system install disks that came with your Mac, if it came with Snow Leopard installed. Mac with MacOS 10.7.5 Lion came without system installer disks. Then you should find a download link for GarageBand on the Purchases tab of the AppStore.

Hi I have a vintage Macbook that can only run up to OS X 10.7.5 and I'm going to need to install Garageband, but the Apple Store only provides the newest version of Garageband which is not compatible with my older OS, so how can I simply download the older version of Garageband? This should not be a difficult problem to solve yet hours of internet research yields no solution. This is extremely frustrating because I need to get to work on recording, but I' not about to dish out thousands of dollars on a new mac when an earlier version of garageband would work fine on the mac I currently have.
I am using Garageband 11 on a macbook 10.7.5. Garageband shows code as audio in and out but no sound goes in or out of Garageband. I also have Audacity with the same problem? I have updated firmware with Windows only? app.
The Logic Pro 10.7.5 update also comes with two additional sound packs, including Beat Tape (Hip Hop) and Modular Rhythms (Synth Drums). This gives both new and experienced users some fresh new sounds to inspire the creative process and expand your library.
A preview of OS X 10.7 Lion was publicly shown at the "Back to the Mac" Apple Special Event on October 20, 2010. It brought many developments made in Apple's iOS, such as an easily navigable display of installed applications, to the Mac, and includes support for the Mac App Store, as introduced in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard version 10.6.6.[7][8]On February 24, 2011, the first developer's preview of Lion (11A390) was released to subscribers to the Apple Developer program.[9] Other developer previews were subsequently released, with Lion Preview 4 (11A480b) being released at WWDC 2011.[10]
Everymac says the maximum RAM is 16GB, and that *Apple officially supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM, but third-parties have determined that it actually supports 8 GB of RAM running Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" and 16 GB of RAM running OS X 10.7.5 "Lion" or higher and the latest EFI update.
I don't want to use ProTools; I just want to use the MBox as a simple USB audio interface for Audacity/Garageband. The last standalone driver Digidesign produced was for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Is there any way I can get this device working with OS X 10.7 Lion?

It's also worth noting that, as of Logic Pro 10.7, Apple's DAW enables you to create tracks in the company's Dolby Atmos-powered spatial audio format. There are new mixer and panner controls for this, and 12 other Logic Pro plugins are now spatial audio-ready, too.
